I'M OBSESSED W/ FLICKR...my photoblog

May 14th
Today is the kickoff of the Club Charles' SciFi Saturdays that will run throughout the summer. With wild drink specials (think Gummi Worms and multi-colored liquors) and bartender laser battles.

I will be reviving a photo-based web serial that I started a couple of years ago. If you go through the Cracked Lens Gallery and see images that clearly look like vile melodramatic horrors gone very wrong, those are from the series of photos I took for that serial.

These photos evolved during nights of debauchery that usually ended w/ a character getting killed. If you want to drink w/ us and be a part of the, as yet unnamed new serial, let me know. I am casting now!

The Cracked Lens Gallery . One of my other obsessive passions is photography. Even though I have been taking photos for the past 20 years, I don't claim to be a professional or even know what f-stop to use, I just know what I like and shoot.
I have started an on-line photo gallery of images that I've taken over the past year so please check it out.
If I know you, there may be a photo of you...

Apparently the recent visit of my photographer friend Jim Jocoy has turned into more of an inspiration than I imagined it would. I just want to have my camera out all the time! A show of his punk rock photography from the late 70s and early 80s is up at the the G-spot Gallery until June 4th. Randy Davis of Fascist Fascist curated this awesome show so check it out.

I am working on a big party that will be unleashed some time this summer. More details as this kick-ass event develops.

We recently wrapped up our Cinco de MAYO and Masturbation Celebration and all I can say is that I want more, more, more!

HEADWOUNDS were fantastic! This awesome trio has a brilliant look. I wish people walked the streets looking like these wonderful rockers. Truly original and a pleasure to have.

MIRACLE WHIP debuted with Nikki LeFay of DARLING NIKKI AND THE ABORTIONS fame. MIRACLE WHIP was conceived a couple of months ago during a brainstorm session w/ Nikki at the Club Charles. I wanted something that would go w/ the Mayo theme and came up w/ the condiment moniker. We then recruited ex-members of the Abortions, Ryan and Raili and pulled in The Donny and Mr. Jon Smith. If the band doesn't stay together, it's at least been memorialized in an awesome full page photo that ran in the City Paper. I took the photo a few weeks ago at the Safeway on Harford Rd.

Cinco e MAYO also featured Newlywed Debbie Deza who squeezed into a Nikki LeFay original, a tiny dress that was constructed out of vinyl and chalupa wrappers that I obtained from a kid who worked at Taco Bell. And as Taco Belle, Debbie hosted her Pinata Party which was basically everyone forming a circle and kicking the shit out of two pinatas made by Jeremy.

DJ Matt Walter wowed the crowd in typical "Not Just Brit Pop" fashion and "DJ" Lo-Fi was in good form and took his extreme glamour style to the Talking Head. Let's see anyone else try to play records while wearing a wrestlers mask and wig!

STRIPTEASE: The strip above is a preview of the revival of my photo-based web-serial-comic. The original serial was called Charm City USA and featured characters like the charming, snaggle-toothed Wilma Martinez, the aging child star Jon-Benet Fawcett-Majors, the head of the World Glamour Organization Vera Pelt and many others.
Look for some of these characters to return w/ a whole new cast of lovelies!
